She still gets to be "Grammie Pammie"

Friday, January 30, 2009

As many of you know, our Pammie is so PROUD to be "Grammie Pammie." She loves her four grand kids, Tristan, Caden, Abby and Eddie so much! And did you know she has two more grand daughters? Most of you do, but for those that don't, her granddaughter Abby has two twin sisters, Emma and Madelyne that are already in Heaven. Well, something very special is happening today. Grammie Pammie gets to meet those two. As I type this post, my heart is so full with the knowledge that my momma is loving up on my two baby girls right now. She still gets to be "Grammie Pammie" and that makes me so happy.

For those of you just getting the news, a sequence of events yesterday morning caused mom's brain to swell and put so much pressure on it that she died. She was in her sleep when it happened and did not suffer any pain during any of this. Our plan was to carry out her wishes to be an organ donor, however, she had a small case of melanoma in 2007 and so was not a viable candidate for organ donation. At this point Jocelyn and I and few others said our goodbye's one last time today and at 12 noon the docs took her off the breathing machine and let her go peacefully. The overwhelming sense of peace and love in that room was amazing. There is no doubt that it was mom telling us that she was fine. That she was BETTER than fine and not to worry.

Interestingly enough, mom came down for Thanksgiving to my house in Mission Viejo where we talked about what she would want if she died. And momma wanted a party! "I don't want everyone standing around crying! I want good music and food and laughter." Well that is exactly what you will get momma...aka Pammie Sue...aka Grammie Pammie...aka Pamorama...aka Pammer! You will have your party.

Stay tuned for the time and date of the service. ALL and I do mean ALL are invited. That's how mom wants it. So let's do this and lets do this Pammie Style.

Thank you all for your love and support. It has been amazing. My mom loved each and every one of you and Jocelyn and I we do as well.

Mom, I love you with all my heart. I am so happy and thankful for the intense love you poured over me my entire life, for the constant "mothering" no matter how much I said I didn't need it because you knew I did, for the example you were to me, for the friend you were to me, for your sense of humor and for your generosity. You sacrificed so much for Jocelyn and me and I love you for that. You did good momma. You did real good. I can't wait to see you again. Take care of my girls for me.

Love your son,

Ryan

    Jocelyn and Ryan,
Your mom was a great lady. Growing up she was the "cool" mom, and later in life when I saw her on the rare occasion I was always greeted the same way ... A huge smile that only Pam could shine and a big ole hug filled with a mother's love. How lucky you both were to of called her mom. And how lucky she was to have you and your families. I'm praying strength and comfort for both of you in this time. I dont plan on missing this party. Love you Pam!!!

    All the love,
    Mark Jones

    Cool Pam Story:
I met Pam about 4 1/2 yrs ago, at the real estate office. Shortly after joining the group, I came to work one day with fingernail scratches on my face. Most people believed my story, I was wresteling with the kids.... Not Pam, she asked me into her office and asked if I was OK? She immediately picked up on the fact that I was in an abbusive marriage. For the next couple of years, I would get a few more scratches. Pam would take the time to encourage me, love on me and tell me that I deserved to be treated better. About a yr ago, I decided not to live that life and to file for divorse. Shortly after filing, I saw one of Pam's open house signs and decided to stop in and say hello. Of course, she opened her heart and poured out love and support. I have 2 kids, ages 5 & 7, she offered to let us live with her until I could find something perminent. (Who else would do that?). As I write this, I'm sitting in a home with my 2 kids and our lives are full of peace and love. My life is the best it's been in 10 yrs, primarily made possible by the love and support from people like Pam. I'm going to miss her terribly. There's no doubt she has heard the words from our Father "Job well done, my loyal servant"

My favorite Pam story.... when visiting me in NYC in the late fall of 2002 Pam and Dale befriended a Pedi-cab driver, the guys who ride bikes and pull carriages behind them in the park. She thought he was such a nice and interesting young man, that he and his wife would surely know other nice people that I should meet. She somehow got this guy to agree to having me over for thanksgiving the following week. She gave me his telephone number and ordered me to go. Which I did, because Pammie said so. And it was the most awkward thanksgiving ever. That guys wife gave me the evil eye all night, and all his friends were pretentious actors.... But I loved that Pam hated leaving me alone in NYC before Thanksgiving, and wanted to make sure I was with a group of people and potential friends.

xoxoxo Love you all so much. Amy
